Convenient bill payments, easy authentication, and one more way for customers to pay
How South Africans pay their bills is changing fast. Not long ago, settling a monthly account meant finding your card, typing in the details, and hoping the connection held. Today, more than 52.8% of South Africans prefer contactless payments over traditional methods, according to recent research. The reason is simple: convenience. Fewer steps, faster payments, and done before you know it.
The way people want to pay is reshaping what payment options need to offer.
That momentum is exactly why Pay@'s latest addition to its payment network matters. Enabling Apple Pay with Pay@ helps billers meet growing customer expectations by giving customers the option to settle their bills using any compatible Apple device.
What Apple Pay adds to the bill payment experience
Apple Pay is Apple's mobile payment and digital wallet service, available across iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, and it brings four clear benefits to the bill payment experience.
- Fast payments
- Customers tap their phone and complete payments in seconds. No card to find, no details to enter manually. Transaction time drops, and the payment experience is smoother from start to finish.
- Secure and trusted by design
- Each transaction uses a unique, dynamic token. Actual card information is never shared with the biller, and biometric authentication ensures only the rightful owner of the device can authorise a payment.
- Higher completion rates
- A simpler payment experience means customers are more likely to follow through. When paying a bill takes seconds, there is less reason to delay or abandon the payment entirely.
- No additional cost or integration
- Accepting Apple Pay does not cost billers anything extra and can be enabled through your existing Pay@ integration. Whether you're a large insurer or a small service provider, it opens your payment collection up to a growing base of Apple device users without adding to your overheads.
One integration. Every channel.
Apple Pay joins a payment network of 40+ payment networks spanning retail cash, in-app banking, vouchers, and payment apps, collecting on behalf of 500+ billers through a single integration. That network includes in-store cash payments at 11,000+ retail stores and 100,000+ payment points, connecting millions of customers to the payment option that works best for them.
One more method. No additional integration required.
